Frequently Asked Questions
How are working days calculated in the UK?
Working days (also called business days) are Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and public bank holidays. In the UK, bank holidays differ between England & Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland — this calculator handles all three regions.
Does this include the start and end date?
Yes — this calculator is inclusive of both the start and end date. So if you select Monday to Friday of the same week with no bank holidays, the result will be 5 working days.
What are the UK bank holidays for 2025?
England & Wales: New Year's Day (1 Jan), Good Friday (18 Apr), Easter Monday (21 Apr), Early May Bank Holiday (5 May), Spring Bank Holiday (26 May), Summer Bank Holiday (25 Aug), Christmas Day (25 Dec), Boxing Day (26 Dec). Scotland and Northern Ireland have additional holidays.
Can I calculate working days without bank holidays?
Yes — simply deselect the "Bank Holidays" chip before calculating. You can also deselect weekends if you need total calendar days only.
Is this calculator free to use?
Completely free, no sign-up required. Use it as many times as you like.
